Ben Goheen
Prior to moving to British Columbia in 2005, Ben Goheen studied the cello with Zdenek Konicek (founding member of Prague Quartet and Trio Canada) in Ontario, where he earned his BA degree with a double focus on music and theology from Redeemer University College. Now, Ben holds his MMus degree in cello performance from UBC, where he received several scholarships during both years of study under Eric Wilson. Since graduating in 2008, he has enjoyed performing with several symphonies in the Lower Mainland, including: Vancouver Island Symphony, Prince George Symphony, BC Chamber Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony and Richmond Symphony. He also loves performing with a wide variety of small chamber ensembles, and, as a solo performer, he has enjoyed the opportunity to perform for a season with Ballet de Printemps, for festivals such as Vancouver's Sonic Boom, and for many in-studio recording sessions for various artists. As a teacher of over ten years, Ben continues to appreciate his students' dedication and the camaraderie that develops from the time and energy devoted to music lessons. When he is not practising or performing, he loves spending time with his wife, Mylana, and their two spunky children, Phoebe and Oscar.
